Bio

I have taught music in Alabama and Georgia at the preschool through postsecondary levels since 2000. I received a bachelor's and master's degree in music education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and a doctorate degree in music education from the University of Georgia. I have also earned a master's degree in instructional leadership from UAB. In 2007, I was certified by theNational Board for Professional Teaching Standards in the area of music in early and middle childhood. My certification was renewed in 2017. I serve as President of the Southern Division of the National Association for Music Education. I enjoy relaxing with my family at the lake and reading crime novels. My husband, Sean, teaches percussion and we have two sons, Will and Mason.
